Caring Caller
ASB and St John - Working Together

Sometimes, particularly as people get older, they lose contact with the people whose company they enjoy so much. Making friends to fill the gaps can be difficult and many people start to feel lonely and cut off from the world. Fortunately, it does not have to be that way.

The Caring Caller programme provides the elderly who are alone or without friends and family with a free daily long-term telephone friendship. If you are able to give ten minutes of your time every day, you can make a difference in someone's life and become a Caring Caller.

Key requirements are:

  • Strong communication skills
  • A compassionate and caring nature
  • An appreciation of different cultures

Once trained as a Caring Caller you are matched with someone who has similar interests and who you are comfortable talking to each day.

If you have what it takes to become a Caring Caller phone us toll-free on 0800 ST JOHN (78 5646) or complete the expression of interest form.
